Gendron and Gendron

Gendron & Gendron in the Community

When looking at the long list of significant economic development successes in Lewiston and Auburn over the past decade, perhaps the most striking feature is how frequently the Gendron name appears as a part of it.  The Gendron family has been a significant real estate owner, developer and contractor in L-A since 1971, when it was co-founded by Del Gendron.  Over the past 38 years, three generations of Gendron's--Del; Del's son Dave, its current President; and Dave's son and Vice President, John--have been leaders in developing retail, commercial and industrial projects in Lewiston-Auburn and across Maine.

What is it that sets Gendron & Gendron apart from its competition?  In the words of Vice President John Gendron, Del's grandson, "We can do everything,"  Indeed, Gendron and Gendron have built a reputation for high quality "turnkey" projects that consistently come in on time and on budget.  Given their extensive real estate holdings, significant excavation resources, and construction expertise, it is often possible for clients to see a project move from raw land to finished building product with just one partner.  This ability to take a project from "the planning stage to completion during occupancy" has been a major factor in Gendron's continued success in the L-A market.

While Gendron and Gendron has grown to become a major developer across the state, about 90% of its work remains in the L-A area.  They are proud of the excellent relationship they have with both cities.  This relationship continues to bear fruit with several significant projects over the past year.  In Lewiston, Gendron & Gendron Business Park in South Lewiston.  Building off the highly successful first phase of the park, the 11 lots in Phase II are designed to accommodate over 1 million sq. ft. of new buildings,  representing over $53 million in new investment. Gendron also built a new 78,000 sq. ft., $5 million regional distribution center for FedEx on River Road.

Much of Gendron's recent work in Auburn has focused on the Auburn Industrial Park.  New England Public Warehouse and Bisson Transportation, occupy a 103,500 sq. ft. building in the park and Kellogg's Snacks recently moved into a 60,000 sq. ft. building, both developed by Gendron.  In addition, there are proposed expansions totaling over 223,000 sq. ft. planned for the Park, which Gendron hopes to begin constructing in summer 2010.  All told, the Auburn Industrial Park project will bring $10-15 million in new valuation to Auburn.

The partnership between the Twin Cities and Gendron & Gendron has never been stronger, and the results can be seen in the significant new economic development that is changing the landscape of our communities.
